Why We Need FREE – Thinking Leaders?

One of the challenges, to becoming a truly, great, meaningful, significant, relevant, sustainable leader, is the willingness, to proceed, with an open – mind, rather than remaining within the restraints and restrictions of one’s personal comfort zone, and refusing to only do the same – old, same – old! Perhaps, because, we often, witness, a dearth of genuine leadership, with individuals, being elected, selected, or ascending to some position, who might not be ready, for prime time, many of these people, lack the inner strength and fortitude, ability, and/ or willingness, to maintain an open – mind, consider numerous options and alternatives, and serve, as quality, FREE – thinking leaders. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly examine, review, consider, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why, it matters.

1. Face facts; future; furnish; fruition: Unless/ until, one is committed to face the facts, while maintaining, both, objectivity, and pragmatism, how might he be able to make a quality difference, both in the present, as well as looking towards the future? It takes more than rhetoric, or empty promises, but someone, who is capable of furnishing, some way, to make a true difference, for the future! Measure one’s preparedness for leading, by whether he can perceive and conceive of the best ways to proceed, and bring relevant, sustainable, strategic actions, to fruition!

2. Relevant; reliable; responsive; right; reasoning: A free – thinking leader, consistently, delivers relevant, reliable direction, and actions, for the common good. This must be responsive to both the actual, and perceived needs, and one must use well – considered, reasoning, in order, to maximize the possibility of proceed in the right way!

3. Examine; empathy; emphasis: How can anyone, properly serve and represent, until/ unless, he thoroughly considers and examines, all relevant factors, based on what’s best for others, rather than merely, serving any particular personal/ political agenda, and self – interest? Doing so, means effectively listening, and learning from every experience and conversation, in order to proceed with the utmost degree of genuine empathy! This must direct the individual, to the best manner, to place his utmost emphasis.

4. Earn respect; enrich; endurance; excellence: True leaders earn respect, by their actions and strategies/ priorities/ emphasis, rather than expecting it, because they hold some position. In order to do so, the focus must be on proceeding with one’s utmost degree of personal excellence, seek to enrich the group and constituents, and possess/ maintain the endurance, to continue, when lesser individuals, give – up!
