Thought For the Day – Design Your Own Future

Posted on

And today’s thought for the day is take some time out once in a while to design your own future. I’m sure you’ve seen many great quotes relating to self-development. I came across this one the other day from Maria Robinson (an American writer).

“Nobody can go back to start a new beginning, but anyone can start today to make a new ending.”

How true. While you can’t change what has happened to you, you can decide how you will deal with it. There are many challenges faced by many people at the moment. The future is about the decisions YOU take about YOUR future.

When you get some downtime, like early one morning before everyone else is awake, at a weekend or whatever works for you, take a blank sheet of paper and a pen or pencil – (let’s not get too prescriptive here), and write about your future. You can set the timescale, but just write about the way you want to see your life in the future.

Write yourself a list of things you’d like to do in the future. They can be things to do next month, or over the next few months and over the next year or so. Once you’ve done this – you’ve taken an important first step to achieving your goals and deciding what future you want for you.

That gives you a plan of where you’re going, so the next bit is about fitting in the actions you will need to take in order to help you get there. It may involve more learning, or it could involve moving house to a different area. It will almost certainly involve deciding on some people to get to know, or joining some groups or hanging out with the type of individuals who will get you closer to the people you will need to get to know – not very well expressed perhaps – but I’m sure you know what I mean !

The whole area of self-development is massive, and it will benefit you massively to listen to the products of such inspirational gurus like Earl Nightingale, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracey, Peter Thomson and others. They express the view that your brain is the most significant asset you have and will ever have.

So allow it some time to be creative – the person it will most benefit is you !

And there can’t be any better reason can there?!
