How Leaders KNOW What They Should Do

The reality of leadership, is, there will always be certain obstacles, thrust in the path, of every administration, and, the essential difference, between a true, effective leader, and the rest – of – the – pack, is how they handle, and address these eventualities! Will they perceive them, as problems, or approach every obstacles, as a challenge, to overcome? Have you ever considered, how, quality leaders, seem to KNOW, what they should do, while others become overwhelmed, and, often, somewhat confused? With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly discuss, consider, examine, and focus, using the mnemonic approach, what this means, in terms of leading, effectively, and in the most relevant, meaningful manner.

1. Keeping; knowledge: There is no such thing, as a born – leader, so it is essential, for one, to acquire as much relevant knowledge, as possible, in order to develop, and become capable of effectively using the finest skill – set, and relevant aptitude, so, as, to be able to know, their options and alternatives, and consider them thoroughly, optimizing their possibilities, and ability to choose the best path, to follow! Acquiring information, and/ or, insights, is not enough, however, but, rather, knowing what is worth keeping, remembering, applying, and using, and when to do so!

2. Needs; nuances; nerve: One can’t be a quality leader, if he lacks the degree of nerve, necessary, to expand his personal comfort zone, and take timely, well – considered action, while most others, are occupied, worrying, and protecting themselves, to avoid blame, and/ or personal responsibility! Every organization has certain unique characteristics, and, thus, a leader must use the nuances, which are most appropriate. However, the reality is, quality leadership must focus on the needs, goals, priorities, and perceptions, of the group, and stakeholders!

3. Options; opportunities; opinions; organizations; organized: Leading begins with a willingness to consider, all viable options and alternatives, and be prepared to recognize and utilize the most appropriate opportunities! One must be ready, willing, and able, to express his opinions, based on knowledge and understanding! Organizations need leaders, who are organized, prepared, and ready, to make a difference, for the better.

4. Where; when; what; who: How one knows, where to begin, and what he seeks to accomplish, often, determines, his eventual success! Quality leaders never avoid personal responsibility, nor do they procrastinate, but, rather, understand, when they act, often, makes a significant difference. No one, leads, in a vacuum, so, every leader, must identify, who, he needs, to attract, to his leadership team, based on certain specific characteristics, and skills.
