Some people get into a home business with a get-rich-quick mentality and don’t realise that success in network marketing comes with hard work. Network marketing takes more than just signing up and letting things happen.

Many people are told by their upline, that building a home business is easy. You just need to make a list of people you know, talk to ten people a day, attend meetings and so on and you will be off to financial freedom. The truth is, those who are in an MLM business know how that turns out!

There are specific strategies that can help you to build a successful business:

1.  Change YOUR Mindset

A home business requires extra motivation, total commitment, full determination, hard work and a lot of time from you. A positive mindset is critical to the success of your business. You need to start thinking and acting like an entrepreneur and not treat your business as a hobby, otherwise you will not get any results.

Before you can start a home business, you need to have a clear vision of what you want your business to become, then take specific action steps towards achieving your goals. Here is how you can develop a positive mindset:

  • Aim as high as you possibly can, so that even if you fall short of your vision, you can still succeed
  • Expose yourself to positive stimuli to avoid the negative
  • Hang out with successful people who inspire you and start acting like them
  • Avoid people who don’t support your business.

However, having a positive mindset doesn’t mean that your path will be free of obstacles, but when you have a positive mindset, you will be able to deal with your challenges. There are bumps and setbacks in everyone’s business! Also, a positive mindset doesn’t guarantee success by itself but it sure helps.

2.  Goal-setting

Goal-setting will give you a great start on your way to building a successful home business, but you need to do this right. Short-term goals are good as you can use them to break down long-terms goals and they also give you a sense of accomplishment when you reach them.

After you have decided on your goals, you need to follow these steps to ensure success:

  • Set specific, realistic and achievable goals
  • Write down your goals, so you don’t forget them
  • Keep your goals where you can see them regularly
  • Review your goals constantly to check your progress and make necessary adjustments
  • Find an accountability partner who will check on you and keep you accountable
  • Reward yourself for achieving your goals, you deserve it!

3.  Brand Yourself as a Leader

You MUST stop promoting your business opportunity! Think about it, there are so many products out there and new opportunities coming up all the time. People don’t want to hear about another opportunity or product. So, instead of promoting your business, you must start promoting yourself as a leader, the expert and the person offering answers and solutions.

You must have your own websites personalised and customised so you can stand out in the crowd. No one is like you in the entire world! When you do that, you will start attracting qualified prospects to you effortlessly using effective marketing strategies and proven techniques.

4.  Invest in Yourself

In order to achieve your financial goals, you must constantly improve yourself. Without personal development, it may be almost impossible to reach your goals. A great way to do this, is by reading or listening to personal development material that can motivate you to become a successful person.

If you do this, you will eventually have the mindset that you will be successful. Soon enough, you will start acting like successful people and start maximising your potential. While it is fantastic to work from home, however, if you don’t plan your time properly, you will find that you don’t accomplish much on a daily basis.   • Have clear goals
  • Create a daily planner
  • Work in time blocks
  • Create a calendar
  • Avoid procrastination
  • Minimise interruptions (e-mails, phone, TV etc.)
  • Keep paperwork to a minimum or NIL.
